The Vault Competitive Team Information
All dancers must audition to be on any TVDS competitive team. We hold auditions every year in May. Competition team dancers have class requirements they must meet each semester. Those requirements are stated in each age level section. If you have questions feel free to check our FAQ or come talk to us at the front desk!
Our tiny and minis explore multiple genres and learn teamwork, personal responsibility, and experience presenting their dances in competition. We believe that dance at this age should be presented in an environment where learning is positive, rewarding and exciting.
Junior, teen, and seniors are for dancers wanting more in-depth curriculum, technical difficulty, and performing experiences. Our priority is technical training and rehearsing pieces an appropriate amount, as over-rehearsing diminishes artistry and leads to robotic dancers. Our dancers excel as they are introduced to new choreography and skills in class rather than only the material presented in their competition dances.
Our goals for competitions is to help students learn from judges, using their critiques to provide feedback for evaluation and improvement. We continue to instill in our students that the trophies earned are not the goal, but rather, the overarching goal is the relationships they form with their other teammates, the scholarships they win to help them further their dance education and the experience they gain from presenting and performing their pieces. Teamwork, time management, accountability, making lifelong friends, achieving goals, making commitments, organizational skills and technical, artistic and personal growth are the primary reasons we use dance competitions as part of our well-rounded educational plan for our dancers.
Competition Teams
The Vault Company
The Vault Company is our premier competition team, made up of dedicated dancers who demonstrate strong technical ability, exceptional performance quality, and a deep commitment to growth. Company dancers train multiple days per week in a variety of styles and are expected to participate in all rehearsals, performances, and competitions throughout the season. This elite group represents The Vault Dance Space at a high level, and we hold them to the highest standards of work ethic, teamwork, and professionalism.
The Vault Collective
The Vault Collective is our new entry-level competition team designed for dancers who show potential and interest in competitive dance but may not yet be ready for the full demands of The Vault Company. This team offers a supportive environment with a lighter schedule, allowing dancers to build confidence, improve technique, and gain experience in rehearsals and onstage. The Vault Collective will attend a total of three competitions: two separate local events, and a third—typically the final competition of the season—where they’ll join The Vault Company for a full weekend experience, which may potentially be out of town. The two separate competitions ensure our staff can be fully dedicated to the team during competition weekends and provide the attention and support these dancers need to thrive. It’s the perfect stepping stone for those who aspire to grow into Company dancers.
